More than €2.6m worth of cannabis seized at Dublin Airport
The drugs were seized at Dublin Airport over the course of two days.
Over €2.6 million worth of herbal cannabis has been seized at Dublin Airport.
Revenue officers discovered more than 131kg of the drug, with a combined estimated value of €2,635,600, in two separate operations in Dublin Airport over recent days.
As a result of an intelligence-led operation, revenue officers seized herbal cannabis weighing approximately 116.6 kg on Friday. It has an estimated value of around €2,332,000.
The cannabis was found in a freight consignment which originated from the US, declared as solar panels, and was addressed to a property in the southeast.
On Saturday, revenue officers seized herbal cannabis weighing around 15.2 kg with an estimated value of €303,600 as a result of routine profiling.
It was found hidden in vacuum-packed packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked from a flight from London. A man in his 40s was arrested and has since appeared before the courts.
Investigations are ongoing.
