The man was sentenced at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to five years in prison with the last year suspended.

A Bandon man rammed a garda car at a checkpoint and then drove dangerously until he was involved in a head-on-collision with another car after a ten-kilometre rampage which he partly filmed, posting videos to his girlfriend as he drove.

Judge Sinead Behan said in the course of sentencing Charlie Milner at Cork Circuit Criminal Court: “What is really worrying is that you drove at a garda who was trying to protect the public. He was doing his job trying to protect the people of Cork and he could have been killed.
