Cork man hit his mother in the face with a saucepan as she slept in her home

Victim said at the time of his first court appearance she believed if her son was granted bail he would return to her home in Cork and may even kill her

A 25-year-old man attacked his mother as she slept by striking her violently across the face with a saucepan causing her to bleed heavily.

Garda Simone Gilman-Burke said the injured party was asleep at the time of the totally unprovoked assault.
