Second man due in court in connection with fatal stabbing of asylum seeker in Dublin

A second man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Dublin city centre last weekend.
Quam Babatunde, 34, was found unresponsive with serious injuries by gardaí after emergency services were called to South Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper shortly after 3am on Saturday.
Mr Babatunde was from Nigeria and was in the International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) system.
On Tuesday, a man appeared before Dublin District Court accused of assault, brandishing a knife and violent disorder connected to the fatal stabbing of Mr Babatunde. He was remanded in custody to appear via video link at Cloverhill District Court on February 25 for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
On Wednesday, gardaí said that a second man arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing had also been charged. He is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court later this morning.
A third individual arrested as part of the investigations into the fatal assault remains in the custody of the PSNI.
