Court refuses bail for man accused of breaking garda’s leg during search for heroin in Cork City

The court heard that Garda Eoin Harrington suffered a serious fracture of his lower right leg.

A member of An Garda Síochána carrying out a targeted drugs search was pushed aside by the accused man and sustained a serious fracture to his right leg, it emerged on Wednesday during an objection to bail being granted to the defendant.

Detective Garda Patrick O’Sullivan testified in the prosecution objection to bail being granted to Zydrunas Rudikovas of Hawthorn Mews, Dublin Hill, Cork. He said the seriousness of the alleged incident which occurred on Saturday, January 18, was one of the grounds for the objection to bail.
