A Romanian national with psychiatric difficulties was taken from Wheatfield Prison to the Romanian embassy in Dublin to be flown back to his home country for medical care, but it emerged on Friday that “they are not satisfied to pay for the airline ticket and be responsible for his transport to Romania.”
Judge Mary Dorgan said the matter needed to be referred now to the Director of Public Prosecutions: “The State are going to have to look at the breach of the order. The situation needs to be outlined to the DPP.”
