Detective Garda Mark O’Riordain from the stolen motor vehicle investigation unit said on November 14, 2023, Kearney called Ashford Motors in Rathnew, Wicklow, looking to buy two BMWs valued at €89,950 and €54,950.

A scammer posing as an interested buyer stole a BMW car from a Cork dealership and tried the con two more times from another auto trader in Co Wicklow, a court has heard.

Callum Kearney, 23, who doctored images to imitate screenshots of bank transfer payments for cars with a combined value of almost €164,000, will be sentenced in March.
