The vulnerable persons unit of Cork Prison was the location for an assault by a prisoner on a prison officer and now the young man has been sentenced to a two-year jail term for this assault and another committed against a shop assistant at a service station.

29-year-old James Spillane pleaded guilty to carrying out both assaults.
