Driver of stolen car drove at Garda car before speeding through residential area of Cork City

Car travelled at speed straight through a stop sign and crossed a busy road and then into a pedestrian park, where it stopped as accused could not go any further, court heard

Accused pleaded guilty to charges that included dangerous driving and drink driving as well as driving a stolen car.

The 30-year-old driver of a stolen car drove straight at a Garda patrol car before diverting and taking off at speed through residential areas of Mahon, and now he has been jailed for six months.

Judge Mary Dorgan remarked at Cork District Court: “The circumstances of the driving were quite shocking.”
