A district judge refused to accept jurisdiction for the case against a man accused of assault causing harm to a prison officer despite the fact that the DPP said it was a suitable case for the district court.

James Spillane, of no fixed address in the Fermoy area of Co Cork, was before Cork District Court on a charge of assault causing harm to the officer at Cork Prison on Rathmore Road on March 20.
