Corkman who threatened to shoot father and gardaí refused bail

Conor Farrell, of 9 Ferney Court, Carrigaline, County Cork, has been in jail since July 15.

A residential area of Carrigaline had to be sealed off as a young man who appeared to be armed with a handgun shouted threats to shoot his father and shoot gardaí from a window of an apartment.

Conor Farrell, aged 19, applied to be released on bail at Cork District Court today. Detective Garda Ian Breen objected to bail because of the seriousness of the alleged incident which saw a number of garda units including the armed support unit arriving at the scene.
