Man accused of trespass at Cork creche and threatening behaviour during Mass in nearby church

Accused also charged with assault and threatening behaviour at Eir shop on St Patrick's Street, where he allegedly threw a can of beer at a staff member

A 54-year-old man allegedly trespassed at a creche in Ballinlough and was also involved in threatening behaviour during a Mass taking place at the local church.

These were the allegations against Claudio Mos, of no fixed address, who appeared by video link from prison at Cork District Court.

Sergeant John Kelleher said the alleged offences occurred on April 30 when the defendant allegedly went into the creche and into Ballinlough church.

The accused spoke up from prison where he appeared by video link to Cork District Court: “I have not done anything illegal — why am I in jail? I am supposed to have a solicitor. I need some papers.” 

Judge Mary Dorgan directed copies of the charges to be sent to the jail and the case was adjourned until Monday, May 27, to give him time to get a solicitor to represent him.

The charges against Claudio Mos were of engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to lead to a breach of the peace on April 30. He is further charged with failing to leave the scene of a disturbance when directed to do so by Garda Anthony Garvey.

Also in relation to April 30, he is charged that at Shalom Montessori, Ballinlough Road, Cork, he did without reasonable excuse trespass on the curtilage of a building, namely Shalom Montessori in such a manner as caused or was likely to cause fear in another person.

And on the previous day he is charged with assault and engaging in threatening behaviour where it is alleged that on April 29 he entered Eir on St Patrick’s Street and was verbally abusive to staff and returned to the same shop and behaved in a similar manner later in the day. The assault charge arose out of allegedly throwing a can of Carling at a member of staff.
