A 51-year-old man who was convicted as a much younger man with manslaughter was sentenced for a more recent crime where he used a sledgehammer to break into a fishing and shooting stockist in the centre of Cork City.

John Keith O’Donovan of Spriggs Road, Gurranabraher, Cork, and Monataggart, Donoughmore, Co Cork, signed guilty pleas to this and other offences. Judge Helen Boyle jailed him for two years.
