Man dies in hospital four days after Dublin assault

Gardaí are also seeking information from anyone in the Tower Rd area of Clondalkin between 9.30pm and 10.15pm, or in the Grange View Way area between 10pm and 10.30pm last Saturday. 

A man in his 30s who was assaulted in Dublin last Saturday has died.

The incident occurred in Clondalkin on Saturday, March 30, shortly after 10pm.

The man, who sustained serious injuries during the attack, was pronounced dead at Tallaght Hospital on Wednesday.

The local coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have both been notified, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination.

The results of the autopsy will determine the direction of the investigation.

An incident room has been set up at Clondalkin Garda Station, and a senior investigating officer is overseeing the investigation.

A family liason officer has also been appointed to provide support and updates to the man's family.

So far, no arrests have been made, and gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to the assault to come forward.

In a statement, a garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are specifically urging passengers who travelled on the number 13 Dublin Bus from Clondalkin on Saturday, March 30 between 9pm and 10pm to come forward, especially those who disembarked at the bus stop on St Cuthbert's Rd and proceeded towards Grange View Rd.

"Additionally, investigating gardaí are seeking information from anyone who was in the Tower Rd area of Clondalkin between 9.30pm and 10.15pm, or in the Grange View Way area between 10pm and 10.30pm.

"Individuals who possess camera footage (including dash cam) of these areas on the evening of the incident are urged to provide this footage to the investigating gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Clondalkin Garda Station at 01 6667600, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666111, or any garda station."
