Garda due in court as part of force's anti-corruption unit probe

A fourth suspect has been charged as part of an investigation being carried out by the force’s anti-corruption unit.

The man, who is a serving member of An Garda Síochána, will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, this morning, Friday, March 22.

The anti-corruption investigation, which has been examining alleged offences by some members of a particular Dublin-based Garda unit, has already resulted in two other serving gardaĂ­ being charged, one of whom is a Garda Sergeant.

Another person, a male civilian, is also facing charges arising from the investigation.

A garda spokesperson said that, since the start of this investigation, four members of An Garda Síochána have been suspended from duty.

“As this is an ongoing criminal investigation An Garda Síochána is making no further comment,” the spokesperson said.
