Three people have been arrested following the discovery of two grow houses in Co Galway.

The cannabis grow houses were discovered when gardaí carried out searches at two residential properties on Wednesday.

The grow houses were found at locations in the New Inn and Creggs areas of the county during a planned operation as part of Operation Tara.

Gardaí seized cannabis plants with an estimated worth of €228,000 and cannabis herb worth €75,000.

Three people - two men in their 40s and 20s, and one woman in her 50s - were arrested during the course of the operation.

They were detained at a garda station in Galway under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The operation involved members of the Divisional Drug Unit, Galway County Drug Unit, Armed Support Unit and local gardaí.

Investigations were ongoing.
