Three men arrested after guns and ammunition discovered in a vehicle

During the course of the search of this vehicle , one (1) M1911 Handgun, one (1) G3 Rifle and 40 rounds of ammunition were seized

Three men have been arrested following the discovery of two guns and ammunition in a vehicle in Kildare.

An M1911 handgun and a G3 rifle, as well as 40 rounds of ammunition, were seized as a result of intelligence-led investigations targeting firearm trafficking.

The vehicle was intercepted after 10am on Saturday morning in the Kildare area.

A Garda spokesperson added: “Investigations are ongoing”.

The three men, aged 19, 20 and 21 years, were arrested in relation to possession of firearms and were detained at Garda Stations in Co. Kildare.
