A motorist was found going 167km/h in an 80km/h zone on the R148 in Kilcock, Kildare

More than 900 motorists were caught speeding on National Slow Down Day — including four drivers who were going more than 160km/hour.

Gardaí, GoSafe and the RSA run the day of operations intermittently throughout the year, with the aim of reminding drivers of the dangers of speeding.
