A jury deliberating for more than seven hours on rape allegations dating back over 30 years reached a stalemate on Wednesday and told the judge that no further time would enable them to reach a verdict on any count.

Mr Justice Tony Hunt thanked the seven women and five men of the jury at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.
