Doctors arrested for alleged fraud against HSE released 

The arrests of the doctors, aged in their mid-40s and late 50s, come following a complaint of alleged fraud against the exchequer and the HSE

Two male doctors in Dublin were arrested on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation for alleged fraud against the HSE.

The arrests were made by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau in Dublin.

The arrests of the doctors, aged in their mid-40s and late 50s, come following a complaint of alleged fraud against the exchequer and the HSE between 2017 and 2019.

A garda spokesperson said investigating gardaí made the arrests on suspicion of an offence contrary to Section 71 Criminal Justice Act 2006.

“Both males are currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007 in South Dublin Garda Station.

“The investigation is ongoing,” they said.

In an update on Thursday, a garda spokesperson said both men have been released. 

A file will now be prepared for the DPP. 

"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson added.
