A 47-year-old man has appeared before Killarney District Court in connection with the seizure of drugs and cash in Castleisland, Co Kerry, on Sunday, January 7.

Edgar Prendiville, 47, of Lisheenbaun, Farranfore, made no reply to four charges when arrested and formally charged, Garda Stephen Foley of Tralee gardaí told the court.

It is alleged that on January 7, at Lisheenbaun, Farranfore, Mr Prendiville was in possession of cocaine for sale or supply contrary to Section 15 of the Criminal Justice Act.

It is also alleged he was in possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis, both contrary to section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act; and that he was in possession of over €2,365 cash — contrary to Section 7 of the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act 2010.

The State’s application was for conditions attached to bail, Garda Foley said.

The conditions include signing on daily at a Garda station, residing at his address, observing a nighttime curfew, surrender of passport and being always contactable.

Solicitor Pat Mann said his client was taking up bail.

Pending analyses, the drugs seized were estimated to be worth in the region of €32,200, Garda Foley said.

Judge David Waters remanded Mr Prendiville on bail on his own bond of €200 to January 17 next for instructions from the DPP.
