Man charged with robbing Cork City shop while holding a large kitchen knife

A man wearing a balaclava and carrying a large kitchen knife robbed €250 cash from the Unity shop at Lower Glanmire Road in Cork on Sunday afternoon and on Monday the person accused of carrying out the crime sought bail.

Garda Killian O’Connell objected to bail being granted to Bernard Horgan at Cork District Court. Garda O’Connell said the seriousness of the alleged crime was one of the grounds for the objection.
