Heroin addict jailed following knifepoint robbery in Cork city

Matthew Ginnifer, aged 29, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to a robbery of a Spar shop on Sullivan’s Quay, Cork.

Having a heroin addiction does not justify a person marching into a shop with a knife and terrifying staff for cash to buy more drugs.

This point was made by Judge James McCourt at Cork Circuit Criminal Court as he jailed Matthew Ginnifer for two years.
