A 65-year old Cork man was found guilty on Friday of raping or sexually assaulting his own daughter on multiple occasions over a period when she was aged from seven to 17 years, despite his claim that he never did it and his wife’s claim that their daughter was a fantasist and “a lighting bitch”.

One juror was excused in the trial due to illness and it proceeded with eight men and three women. All 11 agreed on verdicts of guilty against the Cork City father on 71 counts on the indictment. They found that he raped his daughter 20 times, orally raped her 21 times and sexually assaulted her 30 times.
