A woman who claimed she was put in fear by social media contacts from her ex-partner, including one of a peace-sign emoji, told the judge in the case she met him in town after over three years without contact and they got on so well that she wanted to withdraw her complaint.

“We bumped into each other by accident for the first time in three and a half years. We spoke for half an hour,” the young woman told Judge Olann Kelleher at an in-camera hearing of Cork District Court for cases under the Domestic Violence Act.
