Woman arrested after Garda assaulted during vehicle check in Dublin

A woman has been arrested after a Garda was injured in an assault which took place during a vehicle stop in Dublin on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:45pm, while gardaí were conducting active patrols in the Basin Street area of Dublin 8.
After initiating a vehicle stop, the gardaí engaged with two individuals. The driver of the vehicle assaulted one of the Gardaí before both occupants fled the scene on foot.
The car, which had been reported as stolen earlier this month, was recovered and removed from the scene for forensic and technical examination.
After the incident, a female in her 30s was apprehended and arrested by investigating Gardaí. She is currently detained for an offence contrary to Section 3 of the Criminal Justice Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1991 under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at City Centre Garda Station.
The injured Garda, a male in his 20s stationed at Kilmainham Station, received necessary medical attention. His injuries are believed to be not life-threatening.
Garda welfare services have been made available and activated.
"The investigation is ongoing," a Garda spokesperson said.
