The accused said he acted in self-defence but the judge did not agree.

A boxer hoping to turn professional following a bout in Germany next month denied a charge of assault in Cork in what a judge described as “absolute road rage at its worst".

Ismaikel Perez, 38, of Lough Road, Cork, was found guilty of assaulting another motorist by punching him in the side of the head, causing the injured party’s ear to bleed.
