Garda file on Mercy Hospital murder case yet to be sent to DPP

A 31-year-old man charged with murdering an 89-year-old patient at the Mercy University Hospital in Cork in the early hours of the morning of January 22 appeared in Cork District Court by video link from prison.

Sergeant John Kelleher said: “Due to the nature of the alleged offence the file is progressing but not sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions yet.”
