Burglar claimed to be new employee when challenged by bookstore staff

A burglar wandering around in the staff area of Eason’s on St Patrick’s Street coolly claimed to be a new employee when challenged about his presence there.

Judge Dara Hayes said that while there was no violent confrontation by the accused man in this or other burglaries, the offences would still have been frightening for the people involved.
