A man arrested in Limerick as a result of allegations of indecent assault in the 1970s and 1980s has been released without charge.

Gardaí attached to the Divisional Protective Services Unit arrested a man in his late 70s yesterday morning.

The man was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Henry Street Garda Station.

This morning gardaí said the man was released without charge and that a file is being prepared with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). 

Gardaí have said that investigations are ongoing.
