Man dies in Meath after car hits premises in early morning crash 

A man aged in his 50s, who was the sole occupant of the car, was killed in the incident.

A man has died in Co Meath after his car struck a premises on Sunday morning.

The crash occurred on Connaught Street, Athboy, at approximately 2am.

A man aged in his 50s, who was the sole occupant of the car, was killed in the incident.

His body has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, where an autopsy will take place in due course.

The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users who were in the area of Connaught Street, Athboy, between 1.45am and 2.15am on Sunday and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.

It is the second fatal crash on Sunday after a man aged in his 20s died when a car struck a tree in Co Limerick.
