Music memorabilia from Michael Jackson, Queen, and The Beatles to be auctioned

Memorabilia from the likes of Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Queen are among the lots in a music auction with a combined estimated value of £3 million (€3.5m).

The Propstore music memorabilia auction will feature 800 lots, including a black and gold military jacket worn by Jackson in public appearances between 1994 and 1996, and a Pan American Airways menu signed by all four members of The Beatles during their first flight to the US.

The Thriller singer’s jacket, which features 24-carat gold braiding, is expected to fetch between £180,000 and £360,000, while The Beatles menu, which is dated from February 7, 1964, is expected to make between £40,000 and £80,000.

The sale also includes a stage-worn black wrap-around embellished top and flared trousers worn by Queen singer Freddie Mercury during their Sheer Heart Attack tour, estimated to fetch between £60,000 and £120,000.

The instrument, which comes with a stencilled Oasis case, is expected to make between £75,000 and £150,000.

Other items include a pair of John Lennon’s tinted glasses, expected to fetch between £100,000 and £200,000, and glasses worn by George Michael during the Faith tour, which are valued between £15,000 and £30,000.

The Pan American Airways menu signed by all four members of The Beatles during their first flight to the US.

Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones’ Filthy Lucre Tour stage-worn Vivienne Westwood Kilt is also included in the auction, along with a signed promotional photo of the band, with the pair expected to make between £5,000 and £10,000.

“From Michael Jackson’s extensively documented military-style jacket and Noel Gallagher’s MTV Unplugged guitar to The Beatles’ signed Pan Am menu, each has an extraordinary story behind it.

“With over 800 lots also featuring memorabilia from Freddie Mercury, Britney Spears, George Michael and many more, Propstore’s auction offers something for music fans across generations and genres.” 

The auction will take place on October 1 and 2, with bidding available online from the auction company’s website and via telephone, as well as absentee bids.

There will also be a special public free exhibition at The Cumberland Hotel in London from September 24 to 27.
