Gardaí investigate Killarney fire that left six people injured.

Six people, including children, have been seriously injured in a fire in Killarney, Co Kerry.

The incident occurred at a home in the Loreto Convent Estate on Saturday night at approximately 10.20pm, where several families were gathered.

Among those injured are a five-year-old boy and his mother. It is understood that the pair have suffered severe burns.

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Examiner that gardaí and emergency services attended the incident and that a technical examination of the scene was carried out.

"Six people, men, women and children, were conveyed to hospital for the treatment of injuries sustained during the incident," they said.

"Investigations are ongoing."
