Gardaí are investigating the death of a woman, who had initially been found with serious injuries at a house in Co Carlow last month.
The mother-of-two, who has been named locally as Linda Costello, was found at a property on Bridge Street, Graiguecullen, Co. Carlow, on Thursday, March 26, shortly after 6am.
She was conveyed to St Luke’s General Hospital Carlow Kilkenny, and subsequently to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
She died in hospital on Friday.
A garda spokesperson told the Irish Examiner: "The coroner was notified and a post-mortem examination has been conducted."
A man in his 40s was arrested in connection with this investigation and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
He has since been released, and a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
