Temperatures are set to climb up to the high teens as Met Éireann says dry weather and sunshine are expected for the day.

High pressure is set to dominate this week, bringing some of the best weather before it takes a turn on Sunday and starts becoming more unsettled.

Thursday started dry and sunny, with daytime temperatures expected to sit between 13C and 17C. The national forecaster said it can reach 18C in local inland areas.

It will remain dry and clear late in the night, with some mist and fog forming in areas, with lows of 0C to 4C.

Friday then will see another dry day with sunshine; however, fog may linger near the southern and eastern coasts, bringing duller conditions there. Daytime highs will sit between 12C and 15C.

More dry, long, clear spells are set for Friday night, with lows of 0C to 4C, with more mist and fog expected.

Saturday then will see the fog clear in most areas through the morning, although it may linger near some coasts. It will be a dry day with hazy sunshine. However, it will be duller in parts of the northwest, with some light rain or drizzle. Daytime highs will stay between 11C and 14C.

It will remain dry on Saturday night, with clear spells, similar to the conditions from the previous night. However, cloud will start to build in the northwest with patchy rain and drizzle developing towards the morning.

The southwest will start off dry with bright spells before it starts becoming cloudier through Sunday morning with rain or drizzle forming in places. The rain will be more persistent in Connacht and Ulster for a time with highs of 10C to 13C.

Looking into next week, current indications show a damp and breezy day for Monday with outbreaks of rain and some winds. However, it will be cooler than previous days with highs of 8C to 11C.
