Gardaí investigating after body found in Cavan

Gardaí are investigating after a body was found in Cavan town overnight.

The body of a man, aged in his 40s, was discovered shortly after 3am on Wednesday at a residential property on Connolly St.

According to a Garda spokesperson, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai said they were investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

"The Office of the State Pathologist and the local coroner have been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged. The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau," added the spokesperson.

The results of the autopsy will assist gardaí in determining the course of the investigation.

Investigations are ongoing.
