Man dies after car and lorry collide on Cavan road

Man in his 40s dies after car and lorry collision on Cavan road; gardaí appeal for witnesses.

A man has died following a collision between a car and a lorry in Co Cavan on Monday morning.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on the R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock, at around 7.30am.

The man, aged in his 40s, was driving the car and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The lorry driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital for assessment.

Gardaí have closed the road to carry out a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions remain in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make it available to gardaí.

"Investigations are ongoing," a garda spokesperson said.
