A man in his 40s has been arrested after a garda operation resulted in just under €100,000 worth of cocaine being seized in Galway.
Members of the divisional drugs unit in Galway took part in a specific operation on Saturday in Rahoon.
During the course of a search of a house, gardaí discovered cocaine, a press and other drug paraphernalia, which were seized.
A man (aged in his 40s) was arrested in connection with the investigation.
He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The seized drugs will be sent to special forensics for analysis.
A garda spokesperson said that investigations were ongoing.
This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021.
The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels, involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
