Uisce Éireann working to restore water supply to Cork City homes

Emergency service crews are working to restore water supply to homes and businesses in Cork City this Sunday evening following a major burst to a water main.
Uisce Éireann has dispatched expert service crews to fix the outage currently impacting homes in Mayfield, Corrib Lawn, Ballinderry park, Shannon Lawn, Lagan Grove, Liffey Park, Glencree Crescent, Gweedore Avenue, Boyne Crescent, and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann expects repair works to be completed by 1pm on Monday.
In the meantime, alternative water supplies will become available by 7pm this evening in the form of bulk tankers.
These can be accessed at at the Dunnes Stores car park in Ballyvolane.

“We understand the inconvenience of this outage and we would like to assure customers that we are doing everything we can to restore the water supply as quickly as possible,” James Goulding, operations manager for Uisce Éireann in Cork City said.

As water returns tomorrow, customers may experience some short-term discolouration.
In this event, running the cold kitchen tap for several minutes will usually restore the water to a clear colour.
