Two young men have died following a crash in Co Tipperary this Saturday evening, which left a number of people injured.

The fatal collision involving four vehicles occurred on a local road at Killeen, Ballinunty shortly before 6pm.

"Two adult males in their early 20s and late teens, who were occupants of one of the cars, were pronounced deceased at the scene," said a Garda spokesperson.

Two females, both in their 20s who were travelling in a second car, were taken by ambulance to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel.

"Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Six other individuals were medically assessed at the scene and did not require immediate hospital treatment," added the spokesperson.

The road remains closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are currently in place.

"The local Coroner has been notified and post-mortem examinations will be arranged. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed," added the spokesperson.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. They are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time to make it available to them.
