Woman, 70s, dies following multi-vehicle crash in Co Louth

The woman was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where she was pronounced dead

A woman in her 70s has died following a multi-vehicle crash in Ardee, Co Louth.

The crash involved two cars - one of which the woman was driving - and a truck on Bridge Street at approximately 11.25am on Friday.

The woman was brought by ambulance straight to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will take place in due course. No other injuries have been reported.

The road has closed and garda forensics are currently conducting an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward including any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area around the time of the crash.
