Five arrested as €2.1m worth of cannabis seized in Dublin and Wicklow

Five people have been arrested in connection with the seizure €2.1m worth of cannabis and Dublin and Wicklow.
As part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations targeting organised crime, gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau carried out search operations at residential addresses in the Dublin and Wicklow area last Thursday.
During the course of the operation, and with the assistance of the Ballymun and Balbriggan Drug Units, gardaí seized a total of approximately 98kg of cannabis and 2kgs worth of cocaine.
The seized drugs have a combined estimated street value of €2.1m.
Five people were arrested and are currently detained at Garda stations in the Eastern region.
A man, aged in his 40s, is being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
Three women — one on her 40s, two others in their 30s — and a man in his 30s are being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
A Garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
