A major gun seizure has been made by gardaí in a Cork suburb today, Wednesday.
Firearms, ammunition, and explosives were discovered at a house in Douglas on the city's southside.
The seizure came after a man was stopped in a car by gardaí and was found with guns and ammunition in North Cork on Tuesday.
Cocaine, three guns and ammunition were found in the car when it was stopped by gardaí at Lisanisky, Mallow on Tuesday night.
The car had been "acting suspiciously", gardaí said.
The house in Douglas which was subsequently searched was described as a "gun-making factory" by gardaí.
The weapons seizure is not dissident related but may be linked to organised crime, it is understood.
A man in his 40s had been stopped by gardaí on the outskirts of Mallow in North Cork after 10pm on Tuesday night.
Multiple guns were found in his vehicle.
He was arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up to 72 hours.
The man, who is originally from Cork City, is currently being questioned in Mallow Garda station.
