Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in his 20s who was seriously assaulted in Kildare town last weekend.
The man was found unresponsive on McGee Terrace at around 3.15am on Sunday, October 26, and was later taken to hospital, where he has since died from his injuries.
An autopsy has been carried out, though gardaí said the results are not being released for operational reasons.
“Following the post-mortem examination, An Garda Síochána has now commenced a murder investigation,” a garda spokesperson confirmed.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are asking any road users or pedestrians who were in the McGee Terrace area between 2am and 4am and may have video or dash-cam footage to come forward.
