Woman dies, another seriously injured, in crash involving SUV and truck in Roscommon

A woman has died and another is in a serious condition in hospital following a collision involving an SUV and a truck in Co Roscommon.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision, which happened on the N5 at Scramoge shortly after 5pm on Tuesday evening.
A passenger in the SUV, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was later removed to the morgue where an autopsy will be arranged in due course.
The driver of the SUV, a woman in her 70s, was transferred by air ambulance to University Hospital Galway for treatment. Gardaí described her injuries as "serious".
The road where the collision took place is now closed, and is expected to remain so until Wednesday morning, pending an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
Local diversions have been put in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users with camera footage who were travelling in the area between 4.45pm and 5.15pm on Tuesday evening have been asked to make this footage available.
