Drug tests to be carried out on girl who died at Belfast festival

The PSNI said it carried out seven arrests and issued 13 on-the-spot sanctions at the Emerge Festival, including for disorderly behaviour, assault on police and possession of drugs. File photo: Alan Lewis

Tests are being conducted to determine the cause of death of a teenage girl and at least two separate hospitalisations connected to a dance music festival in Belfast last Sunday.

Health and police authorities are gathering evidence amid concerns that high potency MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, as well as the hallucinogenic drug LSD may have been in circulation at the event.
