HSE spends €250m on external consultants in two years

Overall, the HSE paid more than €98.6m to EY, KPMG, IBM, and PwC last year.

The HSE has paid almost €250m to four external consultants since 2023, including €11m in January of this year alone.

The figures paid out to EY, KPMG, IBM, and PwC have been described as "incredible" by Labour TD Alan Kelly, who suggested that the HSE are now overreliant on a small number of firms to carry out work which should be carried out in-house.
