Man arrested after man, 30s, dies following Dublin assault 

A man, aged in his 30s, was found unresponsive. He was taken to John Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead. 

A man has been arrested following an assault in Dublin in which a man aged in his 30s was found unresponsive.

Gardaí said they were alerted to an assault at a residence in the Shancastle area of Dublin 22 at around 5.50am on Monday. 

A man, aged in his 30s, was found unresponsive. He was taken to John Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead. 

Gardaí said a man, also aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with the investigation. He is currently detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda station in the Dublin area.

The scene is currently preserved for gardaí to carry out a technical examination of the scene. 

The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been informed, and an autopsy will take place in due course. 

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed who will lead the investigation from an incident room at Lucan Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer has also been assigned. 

Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also appealing to anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dashcam footage from the area between 5am and 6am on Monday July 7 2025, to contact them.

"Investigations are ongoing," a garda spokesperson said.
