Just one out of 16 people detained for serious crimes at the Central Mental Hospital, who had their cases reviewed, were granted a conditional discharge in 2024, new figures show.
The 101 patients examined by the Mental Health Review Board involved people charged with, or convicted of, murder, attempted murder, manslaughter and serious assault.
