Four juveniles arrested after stinger used to stop stolen car in Wicklow

Four juveniles have been arrested after an overnight attempt to steal a car in Arklow, Co Wicklow.

A call was made to gardaí shortly before 3am on Tuesday, reporting the suspected theft of a vehicle.

A car matching the description was spotted with four boys on board, travelling southbound on the Arklow Road towards Inch, Co Wexford.

In response, gardaí launched a targeted operation to intercept the vehicle.

A stinger device was deployed, bringing the car to a stop at Junction 23 of the M11 southbound near Gorey, Co Wexford.

Two juveniles were arrested at the scene.

Shortly afterwards, the other two were located, arrested, and detained at garda stations in the east of the country.

All four have since been charged and are due to appear before Bray District Court on Tuesday.

A garda spokesperson said: “Investigations are ongoing.”
